Did you know that Rocks came from mud and sand that have cemented-together and made rock, its why we have amazing landscapes.
Sedimentary rocks develop from sediments such as mud or sand in the bottoms of lakes or the ocean that turn to rock. Sedimentary rocks are easier to identify than other rock types, plus they sometimes have fossils in them! This means that those of us living where sedimentary rocks outcrop will have a slightly easier time "reading the rocks," and the fossils mean that once we know what kinds of rocks outcrop in our areas, we'll be able to reconstruct what conditions must have prevailed when our rocks were deposited.

An important feature of many sedimentary rocks is that they are layered, as shown by the sandstone above. Looking at that picture you can visualize that when the parent material (the original sand in this case) was deposited about 4400 years ago during the Biblical worldwide flood. As the floodwaters receded back into the earth at the end of the year, leaving mud and sand in these shapes all over the world to turn in time into Sedimentary rocks.

Layering in sedimentary rocks isn't always as obvious as in the picture. Often the layers are much, much thicker and typically they have been distorted -- squeezed into curves or tilted at crazy angles, for instance. Limestone created by the regularly proceeding chemical precipitation of calcium carbonate onto the ocean floor may not show apparent layering at all.

KINDS OF SEDIMENTARY ROCKS

Here are the most commonly encountered sedimentary rock types:

  • Sandstone:
As seen above. Basically sand grains cemented together, which may have been deposited as sand dunes, sand bars, or washed into the sea; that's a genuine sandstone rock as seen above.
  • Shale: composed mostly of tiny clay particles of the kind found in mud, much smaller than sand particles, so shale is smoother than sandstone
  • Conglomerate: composed mostly of rounded, water-worn, cemented-together pebbles much larger than sand grains; the pebbles are usually of quartz
  • Limestone: composed of calcium carbonate (calcite), which may have been chemically precipitated in the sea, or else deposited by living organisms in the sea; often contains fossils of sea life
  • Dolomite: like limestone, except that it has more magnesium in it

  • Coal:
As you see above, coal is black. It is composed of the remains of plants and animals living before the Biblical world wide flood. Often you can find fossils in coal such as those in the photo. The bottom chunk of coal, as well as showing two long, slender fossils, displays a yellow crust, which is sulfur. Coal, especially that mined in the eastern US, contains so much sulfur that when it is burned the sulfur in the smoke forms sulfuric acid, which, unless removed by scrubbers at the power plant, contributes greatly to acid rain. Three general categories of coal are recognized. From softest to hardest, they are: lignite; bituminous, and; anthracite.

CONCRETIONS

As seen above. Have you ever mixed oil and water, and noticed how droplets of oil joined together to form larger and larger droplets? Something a little like that happens when sand, mud and general muck is deposited, then sits around turning to rock. Sometimes inside the sand, mud or muck certain chemicals come together like oil droplets in water, and as the sand, mud or muck turns to rock, so do the chemical concentrations. The result may be that the chemical concentrations become concretions embedded in the rock, such as those shown above exposed in a rock wall.

Don't forget that fossils are often found in sedimentary rocks. Billions of dead things buried in the mud during the worldwide flood as recorded in the Bible. Quite straightforward really.

The rejection of the Worldwide flood is end times Biblical prophecy fulfillment.
People who fulfill God's prophetic word concerning a denial of the worldwide flood, look at all the rock layers and interpret this as showing each age of the earth, believing that the Earth was formed approximately 5 billion years ago. Once there is an exceptance of God's Word then it becomes fairly simple to work out the approximate age of the Earth and the time of the Worldwide Flood. By studying the book of Genesis it can be seen that Adam and Eve the first man and the first woman were created on the 6th literal day. By Genesis chapter 3, sin had entered the world through Eve's deception and Adams disobedience to God. Understandably God's Righteous judgment fell upon them and caused them, and the whole of Creation to fall from God's Grace, and the perfect sinless world that God had made for mankind to live in was no more. Through sin, sickness and death came into the once perfect world, and all Adam and Eve's children were to be born with an inherited sinful nature, born to rebel against God. The Lord God had commanded Adam and Eve to go forth and multiply, so they went on to have many sons and daughters who intermarried to fill the earth. God's Law against marrying a close relative wasn't given to Moses for mankind until 2500 years latter, so initially the marrying of brothers and sisters was normal behavior and not sinful. Soon after sin had come into the world through Adam. Adam and Eve suffered the tragedy of their Son Kane killing their other son Abel. This happened because Kane had become jealous of Abel who had pleased God. God banished Kane due to him killing his brother. Kane took for himself a wife to start his own family. Adam and Eve went onto have many more sons and daughters. It can be seen by Genesis 5 that when Adam and Eve were 130 years old they had a son called Seth. Through the first 5 books of Genesis and now looking at Genesis 5 we understand that sin had prevented man from living eternally and had separated mankind from God. Instead of mankind living forever without sin sickness and death, the average life expectancy was limited to around 900 years. Eve was still fertile at 130 years so by this we can easily see how within the first 1600 years of human history the earth had become filled with around 2000 million people. Take a look at Genesis 5 and 6.
